The Registrar for Magistrates Affairs and Data Management, Agnes Alum, on Tuesday welcomed Cohort Four of select Chief Magistrates—particularly those recently elevated—to a one-day training on the Performance Enhancement Tool (PET) at the Supreme Court Building in Kampala.
In her remarks, Alum underscored the significance of the PET as a vital mechanism for strengthening accountability and improving efficiency in judicial service delivery. She highlighted its role in enabling judicial officers to systematically track, evaluate, and enhance their performance in alignment with the Judiciary’s strategic objectives.
“The Performance Enhancement Tool is a critical instrument for strengthening accountability, improving efficiency in judicial service delivery, and enabling judicial officers to systematically track and enhance their performance in line with the Judiciary’s strategic objectives,” she said.
Alum further noted that the Judiciary’s transformation agenda places a strong emphasis on measurable performance, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement—principles anchored in the effective utilization of the PET.
The training was supported by the Principal Information Management Officer, Joseph Ssinabulya, alongside the Performance Management and Awards Secretariat. The team provided hands-on technical guidance to the Chief Magistrates, focusing on the development of performance appraisal plans, including the activation and computation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned to both individual and institutional targets.
Additionally, Senior Statistician Isaac Bbossa Sserunkuma guided participants through the Survey Tool embedded within the system, while Brian Oryema delivered a comprehensive overview of the theoretical framework underpinning the Performance Enhancement Tool.
The training marks a continued effort by the Judiciary to enhance institutional performance through structured tools and capacity-building initiatives.
