On Wednesday, the Supreme Court ruled that soldiers who lose cases in military courts cannot seek redress in civilian courts.

Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo expressed concern over the severe understaffing within the Judiciary, noting that only 655 judicial officers serve Uganda’s 45 million citizens.

Baryaruha also called for stronger collaboration between the arms of government to ensure the rule of law, stressing that cooperation among these institutions is essential for justice to prevail.
