The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, celebrated his 11th coronation anniversary in a grand ceremony held at the Busoga Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja City.
The event drew thousands of jubilant subjects, cultural leaders, government officials, and dignitaries from across the country.
Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, graced the occasion as the chief guest, representing President Yoweri Museveni.
In his address, the Kyabazinga emphasized the need for unity and collective responsibility as essential pillars for Busoga’s development. He called on the people of Busoga to work together, stating that unity was key to achieving meaningful progress in the region.
The monarch also issued a strong call to action against malaria and teenage pregnancies, which he described as urgent public health and social crises.
He cited statistics from United Nations-affiliated organizations showing that Busoga currently records the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in Uganda.
He urged local leaders and development partners to prioritize this issue, which continues to undermine the potential of young girls across the region.
Highlighting his flagship initiative, "Abasadha N’Emoango," the Kyabazinga appealed to men and boys to play a more active role in protecting girls and promoting responsible behavior.
He described the program as a tool to foster behavioral change and create a culture of accountability among male family members and community leaders.
The Kyabazinga further encouraged citizens to take advantage of government programs designed to uplift household incomes. He particularly pointed to the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other wealth creation initiatives as critical tools in the fight against poverty, which often contributes to social issues like early marriages and school dropouts.
Delivering President Museveni’s message, Prime Minister Nabbanja congratulated the Kyabazinga on his 11-year reign and also conveyed the president’s personal congratulations on the birth of the royal twins.
She reaffirmed the central government’s commitment to working with traditional institutions to advance the National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s development agenda.
President Museveni’s message underscored the importance of continued collaboration between the government and cultural institutions to promote socioeconomic transformation, particularly in areas of education, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
To support the anniversary celebrations, Nabbanja handed over a Shs 20 million cash contribution from the President, supplementing the Shs 60 million previously sent.
The colorful ceremony featured traditional music and dance performances that showcased Busoga’s rich cultural heritage.
Among the key guests in attendance were Kampala Capital City Authority Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki, Busoga Royal Concepts chairman Professor Wasswa Balunywa, and a delegation from the Buganda Kingdom led by Noah Kiyimba.
The celebration concluded with the Kyabazinga cutting a ceremonial cake, which he shared with his subjects, symbolizing unity, inclusion, and the enduring bond between the throne and the people of Busoga.
