FACT CHECK: AI video falsely shows NUP’s Rubongoya in scuffle with Sseggona

A video circulating on social media claims to show National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya in a scuffle with lawyer Medard Lubega Sseggona, who represents former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

However, the video is AI-generated and does not show a real confrontation between the two individuals. A frame-by-frame analysis reveals signs of manipulation, including unnatural movements, distorted facial features, and inconsistent changes in the background and clothing.

The video bears a Nile Post logo and appears to have been created from a photograph previously shared by the media outlet, which was manipulated using AI tools to create a misleading video.

There is no credible evidence that Rubongoya and Sseggona were involved in such an incident.

The claim is FALSE. The circulating video is AI-generated and does not depict a real confrontation.

Rating: FALSE
