Beatboxer Owen Rawlings Kikomeko has set a new endurance milestone in beatboxing after performing continuously for 28 hours and five minutes, surpassing the previous record of 25 hours held by German beatboxer Peter Wehrmann in Berlin.
The feat, which is pending official confirmation by Guinness World Records, was achieved during a live broadcast facilitated by Next Media Services in Kampala.
Kikomeko began the beatboxing marathon on March 15, 2026, at 2:35pm, performing live on NBS Pulse and entertaining audiences across the country and online. He finally stopped at 7pm the following day, having spent 28 hours and five minutes producing musical rhythms using only his voice.
The performance drew excitement from fans who gathered at the studio and followed the broadcast, cheering him on as the hours passed.
Kikomeko said the achievement was a dream come true and a moment he had long worked towards.
“I am happy to have broken this record. I have always wanted to be a great man in the world, and today I feel I have made it,” Kikomeko said shortly after ending the performance.
Beatboxing is a musical art form in which performers imitate drum machines, rhythms and musical instruments using the mouth, lips, tongue and voice.
Kikomeko explained that his talent developed while serving in his church music team, where he began experimenting with vocal rhythms while singing.
“I started this while serving in my church music team. I discovered that I could create natural beats while singing and entertaining people,” he said.
During the marathon session, the singer combined beatboxing with vocal melodies, occasionally interacting with fans who danced and clapped along to the rhythm.
Supporters who witnessed the feat described it as a proud moment for Uganda’s music and entertainment industry.
The recording of the performance will now be submitted to Guinness World Records for verification before Kikomeko can be officially declared the holder of the longest beatboxing marathon.
If confirmed, the achievement will place the Ugandan artist among global record holders and mark a significant milestone for the country’s creative industry.
