Mayiga Urges Buganda Youth to Unite and Harness Their Talents for Development
Buganda Kingdom Premier Charles Peter Mayiga has urged young people to work together, embrace their talents and participate in youth programmes as a way of driving personal growth and community development.

KAMPALA — The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called on young people to unite, combine their strengths and use their talents to achieve personal and community development.

Mayiga said the youth should take advantage of their productive years by investing in skills, responsible behaviour and initiatives that can improve their livelihoods and contribute to the growth of Buganda.

“Youth, work together and combine your efforts. Let each one of you do your best to discover your potential. Make good use of your talents, take care of yourselves, avoid drugs, use social media responsibly, raise your standards, and together let us take Buganda to greater heights,” Mayiga said.

He made the remarks during a meeting with representatives from various youth groups at Bulange, Mengo.

Mayiga encouraged young people to register with the Buganda Youth Network, an umbrella organisation established by the Buganda Kingdom to unite youth associations across the kingdom.

He said membership in the network would allow young people to access guidance, mentorship and youth development programmes offered by the kingdom.

The Minister for Youth, Sports and Talent, Robert Serwanga, also outlined plans by the ministry to empower young people and encouraged them to actively participate in youth initiatives organised by the Buganda Kingdom.

He said youth involvement in such programmes is key to developing talents and creating opportunities for the next generation.
