Namyalo Urges Women to Take Active Role in Upcoming Women Council Elections
ONC Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye has urged women to participate actively in the forthcoming Women Council elections, saying strong grassroots leadership is key to ensuring effective delivery of government programmes.

KAMPALA — The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has called on women to actively participate in the upcoming Women Council elections and choose leaders who will promote empowerment and community development.

Namyalo made the call during her mobilisation tour in Makindye Division, where she monitored the ongoing voter register verification and registration exercise ahead of the Local Council and Women Council elections.

Her tour started in Lubowa Village, Kibuli Parish, where she interacted with residents and encouraged them to verify their voter details, saying accurate registration is essential for a credible, transparent and inclusive electoral process.

Addressing women, Namyalo said effective grassroots leadership is critical in ensuring government programmes benefit the intended communities.

She urged women to elect leaders who demonstrate commitment to service, accountability and addressing local challenges.

“Before expecting empowerment, we must first elect good leaders. Without accountable leaders at the grassroots, it becomes difficult for government programmes and resources to reach the people they are intended to benefit,” Namyalo said.

She highlighted government efforts to support women empowerment initiatives under the leadership of President Museveni, encouraging women to take advantage of available opportunities through entrepreneurship, self-employment and other income-generating activities.

Namyalo also urged residents to elect capable Parish leaders who can effectively coordinate government programmes and ensure public resources are delivered efficiently.

She encouraged women to embrace hard work, economic independence and participation in leadership, describing them as key pillars for improving household livelihoods and contributing to national development.
