Kibaale District Local Government has launched a Shs327 million water supply project aimed at ending chronic water shortages in four villages in Kyebando Sub-county.
Ben Sekuye, the district’s water officer, said the Kabuhuna Mini Solar Water System Phase I is expected to be completed within six months.
The project includes construction of a pump house, an attendant’s house, an eco-san latrine, and a 50,000-liter pressed-steel water reservoir mounted on a 10-meter tower.
Karukana Enterprises Uganda Ltd has been contracted to execute the works.
At the launch event in Kabuhuna Trading Centre, Resident District Commissioner Stephen Byaruhanga Mfashingabo urged residents to safeguard government infrastructure and warned the contractor to ensure high-quality delivery.
District Chairperson Godfrey Muhonge Kasanga called on the community to remain cooperative and diligent as essential services expand.
Residents of Rwamagambo, Kabuhuna, Hamuriro, and Kyabahinda villages expressed optimism that the new system will finally resolve the severe water scarcity they have endured for years.
