DOKOLO | The Uganda People's Congress (UPC) has unveiled Sarah Aguti Nyangkori as its flag bearer for the forthcoming Dokolo Woman by-election following a rigorous selection process held at St Francis Xavier Vocational School.

Aguti, a grassroots leader and advocate for women's rights, emerged victorious after fervent discussions and deliberations among party members.

She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent UPC in the Dokolo Woman MP by-election, emphasising her commitment to advancing the interests of the community.

"I pledge to serve the community with dedication and integrity," Aguti said.

Morris Chris Ongom, regional chairperson of UPC, lauded Aguti's nomination, highlighting her principled leadership and dedication to community engagement.

"Aguti's nomination reflects her principled leadership and commitment to community engagement, making her an ideal candidate for the role," Ongom said.

Aguti's candidacy has received widespread support within the party, with members recognising her as a capable leader with a proven track record of grassroots empowerment initiatives.

Dickens Kennedy Odongo, the Alebtong district chairman, commended Aguti's nomination, underscoring her qualifications and suitability for the role.

"Aguti's qualifications and track record make her a strong contender for the Dokolo Woman by-elections, and her nomination is a testament to her capabilities," Odongo said.

The Dokolo by-election, triggered by the vacancy left by the former Woman MP's demise, has sparked significant political interest and discussions in the district.

With Aguti as the UPC flag bearer, the stage is set for a competitive and spirited electoral contest in Dokolo.

The by-election is slated to take place next month.
