Speaking after court-mediated discussions, Alobo said Sarah Inachu, whom she affectionately called a sister, had decided to withdraw the petition she filed challenging the outcome of the Soroti City Woman MP election.
"On Monday the court mediated us well," Alobo said.
She said the petition had challenged what she described as her legitimate victory in the election.
"My competitor, Inachu Sarah, had challenged the decision of the people of Soroti City—my genuine win—but later chose to reconsider her decision. Today I am happy that she has withdrawn the petition and allowed for coexistence," Alobo said.
She said the withdrawal brings an end to the legal dispute and provides an opportunity for leaders to focus on serving the people of Soroti City.
Alobo also thanked the court for facilitating the mediation process and urged residents to embrace peace and unity as leaders begin work in the 12th Parliament.
The withdrawal brings closure to one of the election petitions arising from the Soroti City parliamentary race.
