Mityana: Bishop Bukomeko Urges Fairness, Integrity in Handling Political Cases

The Bishop of Mityana Diocese, Dr. James Bukomeko , has called on security agencies and judicial officers to uphold fairness, professionalism and integrity when handling cases, particularly those arising from political activities.

Bishop Bukomeko made the remarks at his home in Namukozi, Mityana Municipality, where he hosted parents, widows and vulnerable families during a special Christmas food distribution ceremony. He expressed concern over what he described as increasingly questionable decisions within the justice system.

“We ask our security organs and judicial officers to act with fairness and wisdom,” Bishop Bukomeko said. “When arresting or handling cases connected to politics, let justice—not fear or pressure—guide your actions.”

The Bishop noted that many citizens have gradually lost confidence in some judicial processes due to what he termed inconsistent rulings and alleged selective enforcement of the law.

“There is growing concern when we witness decisions that leave the public unsure whether justice is truly being served,” he added. “Our country needs institutions that people can trust.”

During the event, widows and elderly caregivers who received Christmas food packages expressed gratitude to the Bishop for reaching out at a time when many families are struggling with economic hardship.

Several beneficiaries noted that the festive season is often especially difficult for widows and the elderly, many of whom lack reliable support.
