Luzzi Forgives Mityana Muslim Leaders for ‘Mistreatment’ in Previous Election

Independent Kampala Central parliamentary candidate Abraham Luzzi has said he has extended an olive branch to Muslim leaders in Mityana District, announcing that he has forgiven them for allegedly mishandling his campaign funds during the previous parliamentary contest.

Luzzi made the remarks during a meeting with Hadji Abbas Mulubya Ssekyanzi, Secretary General of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), at the council’s headquarters in Old Kampala.

The meeting took place shortly after Luzzi attended prayers at the National Mosque.

In his reception, Hadji Mulubya commended Luzzi for his courage in contesting the Kampala Central seat and delivered a humble appeal on behalf of Muslims in Mityana.

“It is this I kindly request—to forgive the people of Mityana, especially the Muslim leaders who failed to fulfill their promises that they were to elect you as their area MP,” he said warmly.

Luzzi responded with equal graciousness, declaring that he had put the past behind him.

“I now announce that I have forgiven all people of Mityana for the way they harshly mistreated me,” he said, smiling as he addressed the gathering.

He also commended the UMSC leadership for the improvements he observed at the headquarters.

Earlier, Luzzi joined hundreds of worshippers for Friday prayers at the National Mosque, where youthful cleric Sheikh Hussein Ali Bulafu delivered a spirited sermon.

The congregation included Muslim leaders from various levels and prominent figures from across the country.

UMSC spokesperson Haj Zziwa Ashiraf described Luzzi’s gesture as a positive step in strengthening harmony between political leaders and the Muslim community.
