The Uganda Police Force is investigating a case of aggravated theft reported on July 1, 2026, at Upper Nabuti Cell, Central Division, Mukono Municipality.
According to Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, preliminary investigations indicate that unknown suspects gained access to the victim's residence after deceiving the housemaid into believing they had been sent by the homeowner to collect a faulty television set for repair.
Once inside the house, the suspects allegedly stole three television sets, Shs10 million in cash, a CCTV DVR, a mobile phone, and a metallic safe containing a pistol before loading the stolen property into a white Toyota Noah and fleeing the scene.
Police visited and documented the scene, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
"The suspects are believed to have used deception to gain the confidence of the housemaid before carrying out the theft. Investigations are ongoing to establish their identities and ensure they are brought to justice," he said.
Rusoke urged members of the public, particularly homeowners and domestic workers, to remain vigilant and always verify instructions directly with property owners before allowing unknown individuals access to homes.
"Criminals are increasingly exploiting deception to gain entry into homes and commit theft. We encourage the public to verify such requests before granting access in order to prevent similar incidents," he said.
Investigations into the aggravated theft are ongoing.
