Bouyant Semata returns for Golola bout

Kickboxer Umar ‘The Pain’ Semata returned upbeat from Thailand on Sunday ahead of his ‘fight of the Century’ against Moses Golola due October 13 at Freedom City – Namasuba.

Semata, a super middleweight Muay Thai fighter weighs 75kg and boasts of 44 wins, three draws but has been beaten 30 times.

“Actions speak louder than words,” Semata said upon his arrival at Entebbe International Airport, where he was picked by philanthropist Jack Pemba and motor rally driver Ambrose Byona.

“Golola talks too much but its time to silence him once and for all,” he added.

Semata pitched camp in Thailand early last month in the hope of narrowing the gap between him and Golala, a popular promoter of this sport, who weighs 85kg and has 36 wins in 41 fights.

The difference is stark and Semata, even as a World Boxing Council Muaythai Super Middleweight International Champion since June 14, 2013, has it all to do but the belief is that the month-long training to enhance his skill-set has bridged the gap. That remains to be seen.

The training was sponsored by Pemba, who injected $10,000 (Shs35m) into Semata’s month-long training program in Phuket – Thailand.

“I have a lot of faith in Umar. He is a very skilled kickboxer and as such this month-long training in Thailand will simply prepare for the victory, which we all know is inevitable,” Pemba said at a press conference.

This time he said; "It's time for us to send Golola back to where he belongs, in retirement. My man is back."

With the weight advantage clearly on Golola’s side, most enthusiasts including kickboxing coach Latif Walugembe reckon the fight may boil down to who has more skills.
