Reflecting on Heroes Day, the Division Commander said the occasion commemorates the killing of nine Ugandans in June 1981. He noted that the historical event serves as a reminder of the importance of service and sacrifice.

"That history tells us why we serve. We must never allow such atrocities to happen again," he said.

Maj Gen Sserunkuma also cited the importance of family stability, noting that a soldier’s performance is influenced by conditions at home.

The Ideology and Leadership Course aims to enhance soldiers’ understanding of the UPDF mission, values, and their role in national development.
