PICTURES: Twenty-six heads of state grace Kagame inauguration
KIGALI | Twenty-six heads of state and government have graced the inauguration of Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Sunday.
Mr Kagame won his fourth term bid with a landslide victory of 99 percent victory in July and will serve for a five-year term after the amendment of the constitution to lower the presidential tenure from seven years.
Those in attendance include Presidents William Ruto of Kenya, Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, Salva Kiir of South Sudan, Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea Bissau, and Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe.
Others are Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique, Joao Lourenco of Angola, Nana Akufo of Ghana, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia, Wavel Kamkalawan of Seychelles, and Mamady Doumbouya of Guinea.
President Brice Oligul Nguema of Gabon and Abdel Fattah, chairman of the Sudan Transitional Council, also attended.
Uganda was represented by Vice-President Jessica Alupo and others at the function included Tiemoko Meyliet Koné, São Tomé and Príncipe Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada Prime Minister of Senegal, Ousmane Sonko.
