Govt to Introduce New Tax Bills in Parliament on Wednesday

On Wednesday, this week, government will present several tax amendment bills for first reading in Parliament during the 5th sitting of the 3rd meeting of the 5th session of the 11th Parliament.

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development will introduce nine amendment bills, including:
- The Excise Duty (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- The Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- The Tax Procedures Code (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- The Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- The Lotteries and Gaming (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- The External Trade (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- The Stamp Duty (Amendment) Bill, 2026
- The Traffic and Road Safety (Amendment) Bill, 2026

The session will also involve laying papers, including the Annual Budget Estimates for FY 2026/27, and a request to write off non-tax revenue owed by Kilembe Mines Limited.
