The Democratic Party has responded to criticism from FDC over attending the IPOD summit last week.

At a press conference today, the party's secretary general Gerald Siranda said it was wrong for FDC to attack DP for attending the summit.

"It is highly regrettable that FDC missed [the summit]. We would have looked good [with them being present]. We made all the attempts to negotiate with FDC but we regret having missed her at the summit," Siranda said.

Siranda added that FDC being a bigger and stronger opposition party, its presence would have meant a lot.

"But the FDC’s stance of some of the guys and believers, bloggers, to abuse us for having attended the IPOD is unfortunate and uncalled for," he said.

He said the IPOD process will not stop and therefore a member who feels uncomfortable with the meetings of the summit is free to withdraw without attacking one another.

‘’The IPOD process is unstoppable and if FDC does not believe in the IPOD, it should cease from being a member of the IPOD," he said.

Next year’s IPOD summit is set to take place on 15th May, 2019.
