A good leader is one who uses truth and justice to deliver meaningful services to the people he or she leads. Such leadership promotes development and progress. On the other hand, leaders who disregard these principles undermine national growth and harm society

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called upon leaders across Uganda to uphold the values of truth and justice in the delivery of public service, emphasising that these principles are fundamental to fostering unity, stability, and sustainable national development.

The Katikkiro made the remarks while meeting a delegation from the Democratic Party (DP) at the Buganda Kingdom Headquarters in Bulange, Mengo on Tuesday. The Democratic Party delegation was led by the party President and Minister of Justice & Constitutional Affairs, Norbert Mao, who was accompanied by his wife and Kampala Lord Mayor hopeful Beatrice Mao, amongst other party officials.

Mayiga was accompanied by Minister for Lukiiko, Information; Cabinet Affairs, Protocol , Noah Kiyimba and the Minister of Information, Mobilisation and Kingdom Spokesperson, Israel Kazibwe Kitooke.

Mayiga, whilst addressing the delegation, commended the party for its long-standing guiding principle of Truth and Justice, urging its members to consistently uphold these values not only during election campaigns but also after attaining leadership positions.

“A good leader is one who uses truth and justice to deliver meaningful services to the people he or she leads. Such leadership promotes development and progress. On the other hand, leaders who disregard these principles undermine national growth and harm society,” he said.

During the meeting, Mayiga stressed that principled leadership is essential for building trust among citizens and ensuring equitable service delivery. He encouraged political actors to place the interests of the people above personal or partisan gains.

In a show of goodwill and support for the Kingdom’s development initiatives, the Democratic Party donated Shs 1.5 million towards Buganda Kingdom programs.
