The Rotaract Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf last evening celebrated its first anniversary, commemorating a year of service, growth, and community impact. The event brought together Rotarians, Rotaractors, and friends of Rotary for a memorable evening of reflection and recognition.
The celebrations were graced by Rotarian Jimmy Mugerwa, Charter President of the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, who served as the Guest Speaker.
In his keynote address, Mugerwa emphasised the core values of Rotary and Rotaract, highlighting the importance of giving back to society and supporting the less privileged. He applauded the young club’s vibrancy, dedication, and recognition as Rotaract Club of the Year at the 100th DCA Conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
He also commended the club’s membership growth and resilience during its first year, praising President Louis Shamim for exemplary leadership in motivating fellow Rotaractors. Mugerwa encouraged the youth to embrace innovation and fresh ideas in an ever-changing world.
Charter President Kato Isa shared the club’s journey, recounting the vision, challenges, and determination that led to the formation of this dynamic club. Adding to the significance of the evening, Mother Club President Kin Kariisa expressed pride in the Rotaractors, saying:
“We are very proud of you as our baby club, and we love you so much.” He pledged continued support to help the club thrive.
Over the past year, the Rotaract Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf has achieved notable milestones. Beyond being awarded eight accolades at the 100th DCA Conference, the club earned three more awards during the “100 Days Celebrations” for D9214, motivating members to maintain outstanding performance.
The club has executed several successful projects, both independently and collaboratively. A standout initiative, “UBUNTU,” at Wisdom Hub Primary School in Mpigi—a school for children with special needs—included the renovation of sanitary facilities, provision of desks, mosquito nets, scholastic materials, and hygiene kits, significantly improving the learning environment and welfare of the students. The club continues to identify innovative ways to enhance education and sanitation in local schools.
The anniversary celebration also marked the induction of seven new members, reflecting the club’s active growth and rising influence within the Rotary family. President Louis Shamim commended the members for their dedication and affirmed:
“This is just the beginning together, we will continue to impact lives, grow stronger, and inspire change in every community we touch. If we are able to achieve all this in just a year, imagine what we are going to achieve in the years to come.”
The evening concluded with a powerful reminder that a year of dedication and service is only the start. The Rotaract Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf stands ready to nurture the next generation of leaders committed to resilience, service, and making a tangible difference in society.
