IGP Byakagaba Assures of  Tight Security Ahead of Omusinga's Coronation Anniversary in Kasese

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba has assured the people of Kasese District and the Rwenzori region of maximum security ahead of Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere’s coronation anniversary and birthday run, scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025.

Byakagaba, who spent the better part of Wednesday in Kasese, held a series of meetings with regional police commanders and leaders from the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Kingdom to review security preparedness and coordination for the forthcoming cultural celebrations.

Speaking during a closed-door meeting with police officers at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Kasese, the IGP underscored the importance of vigilance, discipline, and community cooperation in maintaining peace and stability across the region.

“We are fully prepared to ensure that the people of Kasese and the entire Rwenzori region enjoy peaceful celebrations. Our forces are alert, and we shall not tolerate any form of lawlessness,” said IGP Abbas Byakagaba.

Later, the IGP met with the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu leadership, led by the Kingdom’s Prime Minister Benson Kule Baritazari, to discuss ways of strengthening collaboration between security agencies and the cultural institution.

Baritazari commended the Uganda Police Force for its continued cooperation with the Kingdom and the central government in fostering peace and security.

“We appreciate the commitment of the Uganda Police and the government for always standing with our people. This cooperation gives our subjects confidence to freely participate in cultural activities,” said Prime Minister Benson Kule Baritazari.
