Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has pledged to serve for only two terms if elected president in next year’s general elections.
The announcement was made by FDC party president Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat during a campaign rally at Kabango-Kinyara trading centre in Masindi District, where he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to democratic governance and peaceful transfer of power.
“I want to tell you, the people of Masindi, my president Mr. Mafabi has told me that once he is voted into office, he will serve for only a maximum of ten years. The wrong idea of life presidency stops with Mr. Museveni’s regime,” Amuriat declared.
Mafabi, who is currently on his campaign trail in the Bunyoro sub-region, spent the day addressing supporters in Masindi and Kiryandongo districts before heading to northern Uganda.
The FDC presidential hopeful has anchored his campaign on promises of restoring constitutionalism, tackling corruption, and ending what the opposition describes as the “life presidency” culture under President Yoweri Museveni’s long rule.
