According to Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura, the vehicle was intercepted at the Jinja New Nile Bridge checkpoint following a complaint from a concerned passenger.
“Upon inspection, it was discovered that extra chairs had been placed in the corridor of the vehicle, where passengers in excess of the allowed capacity were seated, posing a serious risk to road safety,” Kananura said in a statement.
He commended the passenger who raised the alarm and urged the public to remain vigilant, saying road safety is a collective responsibility.
Police reiterated their call to passengers to report reckless behavior and violations that endanger lives on the road.
