Police in Mbarara have launched investigations into the death of Denmark Adios Beinomugisha, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Mbarara City South under the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), who reportedly sustained fatal injuries after a fall on a hotel staircase.

The incident occurred late Wednesday night at Grand Holiday Hotel, a facility owned by Stanley Katembeya, the PFF governor for Mbarara City. But reports of his death only surfaced on Thursday morning.

Authorities have since sealed off the hotel to the public as detectives examine the scene.

While the staircase where Beinomugisha reportedly slipped has been described by some as neither steep nor slippery, the exact circumstances of the fall remain unclear.

The hotel management has not issued any public comment.

Police had not released an official statement by Thursday evening, but officers remained at the scene, which has become a focus of public and political attention.

Beinomugisha’s death, which became widely known around 7:00 AM on Thursday, has drawn widespread mourning from political peers and youth leaders, many of whom described him as a fearless and driven young politician.

"Today, I mourn not just a friend, but a brother. Denmark was one of those rare, fearless, bold souls in pursuit of a better Uganda," said Ronald Asiimwe, a close friend. "A true Dr. Kizza Besigye to the core. Though we often stood on opposite ends of the political spectrum, we walked together in mutual respect. Rest well."

Arnold Best Ankunda, another close friend and former Bishop Stuart University Guild President, paid tribute to Beinomugisha’s legacy and his dedication to the PFF cause.

"Farewell to a star, my brother Denmark. His legacy as former Guild President of BSU, Western Youth MP aspirant, and upcoming candidate for Mbarara City South (2026–2031) will live on. His passion for PFF, the struggle, and service to the people will never be forgotten," Ankunda said.

Beinomugisha had previously contested for the Western Youth MP seat in the 2021 general elections on the FDC ticket and maintained close ties with Dr Kizza Besigye and senior leaders in both the FDC and PFF.

His body remains at Mayanja Hospital. Earlier this week, this reporter interviewed Beinomugisha for a story that had not yet aired at the time of his passing.
