The People's Front for Freedom Party (PFF) has finally appeared in the Uganda Gazette, marking a major milestone in its quest for official registration following an eight-month wait marked by procedural back-and-forth and internal anxieties.

The Electoral Commission, through General Notice No. 1346 of 2025 published in Vol. CXVIII No. 39 of the Gazette dated May 16, confirmed receipt of the PFF’s application for registration in accordance with Section 6(4) of the Political Parties and Organisations Act, Cap. 178.

The party’s slogan is “Freedom for all ,All for freedom.”

This gazetting follows what party insiders described as months of “sleepless nights,” filled with document revisions, legal hurdles, and back-and-forth communication with the Electoral Commission.

“We are relieved and energised by this development,” a source close to the party leadership told The Nile Post Post.

“It has been a long journey filled with challenges, but we remained committed to our cause.”

The Electoral Commission has now opened a 14-day window for the public to submit objections to the party’s registration.

Those with grounds for objection are required to lodge them at the Commission’s head office located at Plot 1–3/5, Seventh Street, Industrial Area, Kampala.

Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, the Electoral Commission Chairperson, endorsed the publication of the notice, making PFF one step closer to becoming a fully registered political party.

This comes as Uganda continues to witness a growing number of citizen-led political movements seeking official recognition ahead of future electoral contests.
