She emphasised that this collaboration will allow Uganda’s marketing standards to align with global best practices while supporting the professional path for marketers.

She added that the goal is to continue creating opportunities for people and enabling them to become better versions of themselves.

The renewed collaboration will focus on developing pathways for professional marketers to obtain membership in both organisations, enhancing research and content dissemination, and supporting events that foster unity and collaboration within the marketing community.

UMS will also continue to recognise CIM’s Global Professional Marketing Framework (GPMF) as the benchmark for marketing capability.

As part of this strategic partnership, UMS is set to host a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Breakfast on April 25, 2025, at Serena Hotel, Kampala, under the theme “The Leadership Leap: Positioning Yourself for the Boardroom.” The exclusive event will bring together CEOs, CMOs, and senior marketing leaders to explore strategies for advancing into top executive roles.

Attendees will gain insights into business leadership, innovation, and sustainability, as well as learn from experienced industry leaders who have successfully transitioned to the C-suite.

The breakfast event is expected to go beyond traditional marketing discussions, providing a platform for thought leaders to explore business transformation and how marketing professionals can leverage their expertise to influence corporate decision-making.

One of the organizers noted that this is more than a marketing event and is an opportunity for leaders to acquire the skills and mindset needed to grow businesses, learn from those ahead in the industry, and understand what it takes to position themselves for executive roles.

The Uganda Marketers Society has also launched Uganda’s first-ever digital marketing e-Magazine, which will provide industry insights, marketing innovations, and global trends shaping the future of marketing.

The publication is designed to be a knowledge hub for marketers, entrepreneurs, and business leaders, offering exclusive insights into marketing strategies, industry trends, and expert opinions.

UMS President Charity Winnie (Kamusiime) Asiimwe expressed excitement about the publication, highlighting its role in knowledge-sharing and professional development.

She stated that this e-Magazine is more than just a publication; it is a reflection of joint creativity, resilience, and commitment to advancing the industry.

She added that the magazine will feature innovation, thought leadership, and success stories from Ugandan brands making an impact locally and globally.

The e-Magazine will also provide a platform for professionals to share their experiences and inspire the next generation of marketers.

The first edition is now available online, and marketing professionals are encouraged to access the publication at Uganda Markerters website.

Discussing the partnership, James Delves, Head of PR & External Affairs, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasising its impact on the marketing profession in Uganda.

“We are excited to renew our partnership with the Uganda Marketers Society. This collaboration has been instrumental in advancing the marketing profession in Uganda, and we are committed to continuing our joint efforts to promote excellence and create opportunities for marketers in both regions,” Delves said.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing has 130 study centres in 36 countries and exam centres in 132 countries worldwide. These centres provide a professional framework for marketing at the national level and, through training and qualifications, help increase the skills and knowledge of those working in or aspiring to work in marketing.

They also create opportunities for members to meet locally, organize events, exchange views, and share information with fellow professionals at all stages of their careers.

Maureen Wincott, Head of Partnerships at CIM, emphasised the importance of this collaboration in expanding business opportunities and ensuring that Uganda aligns with global marketing standards.

James Delves, CIM’s Head of PR and External Affairs, echoed this sentiment, stating that the partnership underscores a strong commitment to supporting organisations, universities, and marketing professionals in Uganda.

The renewed partnership, alongside the CMO Breakfast and the e-Magazine launch, marks a significant step forward in positioning Uganda’s marketing industry at the forefront of global best practices.

With continued collaboration, professional marketers in Uganda will have greater access to the tools, skills, and networks needed to drive business success and industry innovation.
