Five Arrested Over Theft of Computers Worth Shs60M at Seed School in Wakiso

Kampala Metropolitan Police have recovered suspected stolen computer equipment and arrested five suspects in connection with a break-in and theft at Buwambo Seed Secondary School in Wakiso District.

The theft, which was reported at Matugga Police Station, occurred in the early hours of June 18, 2026, when unidentified individuals allegedly cut through the school's perimeter fence before breaking into the computer laboratory and making off with four HP server CPUs valued at approximately Shs60 million.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, investigators launched extensive inquiries that helped track the movements of the suspects and identify a vehicle believed to have been used during the commission of the crime.

"Through intelligence-led investigations, police impounded motor vehicle registration number UA 771EB, which is believed to have been used in the commission of the offence. Two suspects were arrested, and information obtained from them led investigators to several locations within Kampala," Owoyesigyire said.

On June 23, a police team conducted an operation at E-Tower along Kampala Road, leading to the recovery of a significant quantity of electronic equipment suspected to be stolen.

"During the operation, officers recovered 15 computer CPUs, nine UPS units and 11 HP monitors suspected to be stolen property. Additional computer accessories were also recovered from other premises linked to the investigation," he added.

Police said five suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to be connected to the theft.

Owoyesigyire reaffirmed the police force's commitment to recovering stolen property and ensuring all those involved are brought to justice.
