Security has been beefed up at Parliament ahead of a sitting to reconsider the Appropriation Bill 2024/2025 that was returned to Parliament by President Museveni last week.

Guests from outside Uganda under their umbrella body the young Democratic Union of Africa that were scheduled to meet Opposition Whip John Baptist Nambeshe have also been blocked from accessing Parliament.

At the main entrance of Parliament all visitors have been blocked from accessing Parliament except Members of Parliament, Staff of Parliament and journalists that are accredited to cover Parliament.

All committees of Parliament have been re-scheduled and all witnesses asked to returned to return to their entities and wait for another program.

The leadership of Parliament, together with select MPs. are engaged in a closed-door meeting ahead of the plenary sitting that starts at 2pm.

It is alleged that the closed meeting is reconciling on the areas that the President raised while returning the National Budget 2024/2025 to Parliament.

The President is seeking to have Shs750 billion reallocated, which would push the current Budget of Shs72 billion to nearly Shs73 billion.
