East Busoga diocese seeks shs450m  for consecration of first bishop

Excitement is building up in East Busoga ahead of consecration of their son Rev. Canon Paul Hannington Suubi as the first bishop.

The consecration of Rev. Canon Suubi is history in the making as he becomes the first Bishop of east Busoga and it’s the first time east Busoga is getting a diocese following an election held on Wednesday October, 04, 2023.

The organization committee led by the Minister of General Duties Justine Kasule Lumumba  said the event is scheduled for November 19, 2023 at Stephen’s  Cathedral in Naluwerere in  Bugiri district.

She called upon Christians corporate companies and politicians ho help  raise funds for the event.

“We need shs450 million shillings to hold the event and I call upon the people in Busoga and Namayingo and Bugiri in particular to come in our support," Lumumba appealed.

The chairperson consecration committee Dr. Nakabago John urged  believers to provide them with any form of support to the committee that could be food, money, any needed material or even services.

“My election was purely by the grace of the lord and not human efforts. I certainly count on you to build the youngest diocese of east Busoga”, Suubi said while addressing the organizing committee.

President Museveni has confirmed attending the consecration and enthronement of the bishop who will serve the two districts of Bugiri and Namayingo in East Busoga.

The president also donated an undisclosed amount of funds as contribution to the organization of the consecration ceremony.
