“Already received my nominee’s medal. Thank you Recording Academy,” he tweeted earlier.

Speaking to Radio France International before the awards, the singer said having been born in a poor family, he is happy that his success is a source of inspiration to many others.

"I suffered a lot, had some difficult times. I wanted to do a lot of things, like other kids, but I couldn't. When people see me today they say to themselves anyone can do what I did.It gives them hope that wonderful things can happen, even for people from less privileged families,”Kenzo said during the interview.
