Buganda Road Chief Magistrates court yesterday issued criminal summons to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Women’s League chairperson, Ingrid Turinawe after she failed to show up in court for the hearing of a case in which she is accused of being a common nuisance and assaulting a police officer.

 Turinawe's  lawyer Isaac Ssemakadde informed the presiding Grade One Magistrate Stella Amabilis that his client has been in police custody since Monday this week and her whereabouts are unknown.

Prosecution alleges that on August 4 2019 at central police station in Kampala, Turinawe committed an act that caused annoyance or inconvenienced the public in the exercise of her leading to the conclusion that she was a common nuisance.

She is also accused of  assaulting police detective Patrick Alunyu thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

The magistrate  adjourned the case to the 8th of November 2019 and also ordered the state to disclose two defence lawyer's evidence that she intend to rely on during the hearing.
