The Uganda Examinations Board (UNEB) has employed new measures to ensure exam security ahead of this year's Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
PLE is scheduled for November 4th and 5th. Briefing of candidates is set for today, November 1.
The Education Management Information System that was used last year for the Primary Leaving Examinations has been phased out and candidates will be required to use codes for both schools and districts.
UNEB said the measure is to ensure that exams are well protected and students get the exact marks they work for.
This year candidates will be using the automatically generated computer codes for identification in the exams.
UNEB said this will help level the ground when a person marking exams has no bias of knowing which school he or she is marking.
A total of 696,793 candidates are set to sit for Primary Leaving Examinations with 359,764 females and 336,029 males.
The executive secretary of UNEB Dan Odongo told journalists that the exam body has already received cases of fraudsters circulating fake exam papers.
‘‘Fraudsters have been circulating fake question papers compiled in what are labeled as set one, set two etc…They are purporting that these are the PLE papers to be administered. Several have been arrested in Mubende, Kampala, Mbarara and Mukono," he said.
