A 34-year-old man has been shot dead during an enforcement operation by officials from the Uganda Coffee Development Authority in Gomba District, with police launching a manhunt as the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting remain under investigation.

A 34-year-old man has been shot dead during an operation by officials from the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) in Kanoni Town Council, Gomba District.

The deceased has been identified only as Musa.

Preliminary information indicates that UCDA officials were conducting an operation to inspect coffee processing machines and enforce coffee quality standards in the district when the shooting occurred.

Musa was reportedly at a coffee processing facility where he was working when he was fatally shot.

The circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear, and it was not immediately established what triggered the use of deadly force.

Following the incident, the UCDA officials allegedly fled the scene. Other individuals who were accompanying the enforcement team also reportedly disappeared.

Police have since launched a manhunt for those involved in the shooting.

By the time of filing this report, Musa's body was still lying at the scene.

Authorities had not yet issued an official statement on the incident or confirmed whether any suspects had been arrested.
