City Hall Court Magistrate Nicholas Asiu has remanded two youths accused of possessing leaked Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) papers and forging academic documents until October 17, 2025.
The accused — Tusubira Rinet, 34, of Mutungo, and Abaasabyona Hillary, 27, of Kira — appeared before court on Monday to face multiple charges, including unlawful possession of Uneb UACE examination materials, forgery of academic documents from Makerere University, Kyambogo University, Bishop Stuart University, and Nsamizi Training Institute, as well as forgery of national identity cards and other credentials.
During the hearing, Tusubira pleaded guilty, while Abaasabyona denied the charges.
Prosecutor Mercy Yamangusho told the court that investigations into the case are complete and the State is ready to proceed.
“The investigation is complete, and we are ready to proceed with the plea and sentencing process,” Yamangusho said.
Particulars of the offence indicate that the two allegedly conspired in June 2025 in Kampala District and other areas.
The felony involves the forgery of a Kyambogo University Grade II Teachers Certificate and a Kyambogo University Grade II Teacher Examination Result Slip, both in the name of Tusubira Rinet.
Magistrate Asiu remanded both suspects until October 17, when the court will reconvene for the next stage of the trial.
According to the charge sheet, the offences allegedly occurred between November 2024 and October 2025 within the Kampala Metropolitan area, where the suspects were reportedly found transporting examination materials and forged academic documents.
The case has drawn public concern as UACE examinations officially began this week across the country.
Uneb has cautioned candidates and the public against any form of exam malpractice, warning of severe penalties under the Uneb Act.
