Kawempe Police Division has foiled a signature forgery attempt involving presidential candidate Ssali Jamil Ssulaiman of Congress Service Volunteers.
The incident occurred on September 21, 2025, at 10pm, following a tip-off about irregular activities at Central College Kawempe.
Police said suspects were allegedly paying students Shs5,000 for each voter register they filled with forged signatures from multiple districts across Uganda.
The recovered registers contained signatures purportedly intended to support Ssulaiman’s nomination.
“The alleged offense involves forgery of signatures to manipulate the nomination process,” said SSP P. Onyango, Police Public Relations Officer for Kawempe Division.
Authorities have launched investigations into the suspects and reiterated a zero-tolerance stance against any attempt to undermine the electoral process.
