“I have tasked the Economic Policy Research Centre to focus on generating evidence-based economic policy research and analysis that will support Uganda to achieve a US$500 billion economy by 2040,” Musasizi said.

He said there is a need for more high-quality research to guide policy decisions and ensure the government’s Anchor Transformation and Modernisation Sectors (ATMS) deliver the country’s tenfold growth agenda.

Established in 1993 by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and Makerere University, EPRC was created to strengthen Uganda’s capacity for economic policy research and has since grown into the country’s leading economic policy think tank.

EPRC Executive Director Sarah Ssewanyana said the centre remains committed to supporting evidence-informed policymaking and contributing to Uganda’s national development priorities.

She said EPRC’s work is aligned with the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV) and the government’s tenfold growth strategy, adding that the centre is strengthening stakeholder engagement, promoting policy uptake, and digitising research dissemination and knowledge management to increase the impact of its research.
