Businesses urged to network to grow

Business owners have been challenged to join the Seed Transformation Program of Stanford University in order to realize the value of networking as well as to help them grow their enterprises into powerful engines of economic growth in the emerging markets.

The call was made by Wangui Kanyotu, the Network Manager Seed Transformation program at Stanford University.

Many businesses and enterprises, especially those owned by women are yet to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kanyotu challenged business owners to join the program in order to realize the value of networking as well as to help them grow their enterprises.

"If business owners of small and medium enterprises join the Seed Transformation Program they will be able to realize the value of networking to and grow their enterprises and also develop Uganda's economy," Kanyotu said.

The Stanford Seed Transformation Program is aimed at helping small and medium enterprises to grow into powerful engines of economic growth in emerging markets.

Beneficiaries of the program shared their experiences and tasked Ugandans to understand the value of networking as a big pillar if one is to develop and grow their businesses.

"I have done many business programs with Harvard, but this one of Stanford is different. First of all you learn a lot from your fellow chief executive officers," Kin Kariisa, the chief executive officer of Next Media services, said.

He said before joining the Seed Transformation Program, many CEOs of different companies and enterprises were suffering but they have been able to stabilise and grow through Stanford.

Amos Wekesa, a participant of the program said Ugandans should realize that through networking, one can learn how to improve their business.

"Ugandans must understand that even internally there can be an opportunity to network and grow together because they have done similar businesses," Wekesa said.

Keith Kalyegira, the CEO of Capital Markets Authority challenged entities to seek to diversify their finance portfolio.
