Buddu Reappoint Eric Kisuze as Head Coach Ahead of Masaza Cup

Buddu County has reappointed Eric Kisuze as head coach ahead of the upcoming Masaza Cup, signaling renewed ambition to reclaim past glory in the prestigious competition.

Kisuze returns after guiding Buddu last season, where the team failed to progress beyond the group stages. This time, he will work alongside a strengthened technical bench that includes Sam Ssekito and Simon Gitta.

The team’s new leadership structure also sees Joseph Lutaaya unveiled as chairperson, Steven Zziwa as team manager, and Brian Muwonge in charge of technical affairs. In a symbolic appointment, the Bishop of Masaka, Serverus Jjumba, has been named patron of the Buddu team.

Kisuze was officially introduced by Buddu’s cultural leader, Jude Muleke Ppookino, who urged fans to remain disciplined and keep politics out of football.

“We want supporters to stay united, disciplined, and focused on the team,” Muleke said. “Football should bring people together, not divide them.”

Kisuze expressed confidence in his squad and pledged to fight for success in the tournament.

“We are determined to compete strongly and bring the trophy to Buddu,” he said. “With teamwork and support from our fans, we can achieve our goal.”

Team officials also struck an optimistic tone, insisting that preparations are already on track.

“We have started well, and there’s no turning back,” said team manager Steven Zziwa. “We’ve recruited quality players who can take us back to the top.”

Chairperson Joseph Lutaaya echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the team’s ambition to restore its competitive edge.

In a boost to preparations, Oscar Mutebi—assistant to former Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi—donated 20 footballs to support training ahead of the tournament.

With renewed leadership, fresh backing, and a determined technical team, Buddu will be aiming to make a strong statement when the Masaza Cup kicks off.
