Mbale:The executive secretary of the Uganda National Examinations Board, Dan Odongo, told headteachers during their annual convention in Mbale that the body will not withhold results of any student in relation to non payment of school fees this year.

Odongo said previously the body would withhold the results on the plea of headteachers but this will not happen starting this year because the action contravenes the  Access to Information Act.

He instead challenged school owners and headteachers to do everything within their means to recover their dues from from students before they sit for exams.

"I will not with hold results of those you allow to sit for exams without clearing school fees. It is your duty to ensure that your fees are paid," Odongo said.

Odongo also advised parents take their children to schools that they can afford adding that the examination body will not listen to them when they cry out.

"Schools are not charity organisations. Why do you leave USE schools and take your child to an expensive school if you can't afford?" Odongo said.
