The Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora affairs who is also the NRM diaspora league chairman, Abbey Walusimbi has hailed the ruling party supporters in Bukomansimbi for shunning violence in the concluded NRM primaries.

Speaking during the distribution of bicycles to party village chairpersons in Kalungu and Bukomansimbi district, Walusimbi said scenes of violence are so disturbing and that they should be avoided by everyone.

“It is shameful to see people who work in the same office and have a common goal fail to see eye to eye all in the name of divisive politics,”Walusimbi said.

“As members of the ruling party, we should lead by example but fighting among ourselves on trivial issues is definitely not what the party stands for. In every election or competition, there must be a winner and loser but losing gracefully is a sign of love and respect for the values we stand for as encouraged by our President Museveni.”

Walusimbi who was flanked by Agriculture Minister Vincent Ssempijja,Hajji Twaha Ssonko(NRM chairman for  Kalungu)  Kalungu RDC, Tukaikiriza Caleb, Mwanje Shafic, the  NRM chairman for Bukomansimbi, Minister Nakiwala Kiyingi and the  Bukomansimbi RDC, Teopista Lule Ssenkungo said it is barbaric for people to engage in any form of violence yet the same issues can be solved amicably.

He further noted that Bukomansimbi was able to uphold the party principle of peace because of the respect and discipline exhibited by the district chairman, coordinator registrar and the NRM Administrative Secretary.

“Despite having more than one contestant the team in the district office did not let itself be swayed by naysayers. They were also able to harness respect for each candidate even when some didn’t garner enough votes to become the party flag bearers which I think should be emulated by other leaders in our party structures.”

The Bukomansimbi Woman MP flagbearer, Minister Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi appreciated her opponent for not taking the loss negatively and urged  NRM supporters countrywide to desist from divisionism and stand up for the party principle of peace.

The distributed bicycles are aimed at easing the house to house mobilization during the execution of the NRM 2021 election roadmap.
