NSSF wins finance team of the year award

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Uganda has won the Finance Team of the Year Award, beating other institutions in Uganda with similar departments.

This was announced at the Annual Accountancy Services Awards organized by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) at Imperial resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe on Friday, 7 September 2018.

The chief finance officer, Steven Mwanje who received the award on behalf of NSSF said that the recognition was another milestone for the find and that it was an indication that it was doing a good job.

“We are glad that our operations are noticed as up-to-date resulting into the fund being the first to win this award in the history of the Accountancy services Awards”, Mwanje said.

He pledged more innovative measures on the part of the fund to enhance the already good customer service.

NSSF won Finance Team of the Year Award for its systems that allowed it to conduct a monthly review of its strategy implementation, ability to have audited financial statements in place within two months, skill its staff and build their competencies in communications, data analytics and implementation of the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 9 among others.

The chief guest at the award ceremony, Obuku Ekwaro, the President of Uganda Medical Association, called upon accountants to always act ethically and with integrity.
