URA to use technology to streamline tax compliance
URA chief John Musinguzi Rujoki

In an effort to enhance tax compliance and financial inclusion, Uganda revenue authority (URA) is fostering adaptability to new technological advancements to streamline tax adherence and bolster economic transformation.

This was affirmed during the annual banks conference in Kampala.

Adherence to tax regulations has for years been a challenge for taxpayers and tax collectors alike.

In the evolving technological landscape, URA has embarked on phased investing in cutting edge technology like EFRIS, web portal, electronic data payment, client ledger and use of USSD code for easy channeling of payments.

John Musinguzi, the Commissioner general of URA  says embracing financial technology trends will improve tax compliance and widening tax base.

"Embrace the transformative potential of technology to ensure desired tax compliance and financial inclusion. Adoption to technology is the new way of doing things," Musinguzi said.
