Museveni to intervene in Kadaga, Namuganza row, says Mukula

The National Vice Chairperson of the National ResistanceMovement in Eastern Uganda Captain Mike Mukula has asked Parliament to halt the process of investigating the rift that is between the State minister for Lands Persis Namuganza and the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga.

Last month, Parliament's committee on rules, discipline and privileges instituted a probe into the row between the two female politicians.

But Mukula told the committee on Wednesday that the row had been brought to President Museveni's attention and he will handle it.

"The President will meet them and ensure that they reconcile," Mukula said adding that the parliamentary investigation should be halted.

Mukula argued that Parliament cannot solve these political misunderstandings between the two and their investigations are likely to cause more harm than good.

The former Soroti municipality legislator said cultural and political differences cannot be resolved by parliament, but rather by the different political parties where conflicting members belong.

He said Museveni together with the party leadership have embarked on the process of reconciling Kadaga and Namuganza.

Mukula said it will be tricky for the recommendations of the committee to be implemented because the investigations were ordered by deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah who will now be in a precarious position to decide the fate of his boss, Kadaga.

Before Mukula appeared before the committee interfaced with Mariam Naigaga, the Woman MP for Namutumba who dismissed claims that Kadaga while officiating the traditional function in Bukono county attacked and threatened to cause harm Namuganza.
