‎On Thursday, the club confirmed the creation of a Recruitment and Vetting Committee tasked with conducting what it described as a comprehensive and transparent search for the next head coach to guide the Tax Collectors into a new competitive phase.

‎The development comes at a time when URA FC is undertaking a full review of its technical structure after contracts of the previous coaching staff expired at the end of the season. The club has also indicated that even members of the outgoing technical team are free to apply should they wish to be considered under the new recruitment process.

‎The search for a new coach follows a turbulent season in which URA FC struggled to find consistency across all competitions.

The Tax Collectors finished 11th in the 16-team Uganda Premier League table, accumulating 31 points from 30 matches, a return that fell short of the club’s ambitions.

‎The season began under head coach Alex Isabirye Musongola, but a poor run of results, winning just once in the opening seven matches, forced the club into an early managerial rethink as pressure mounted on the technical bench.

‎In December, URA FC turned to Hussein Mbalangu in a bid to stabilize the situation and revive the team’s fortunes. While his appointment brought some structure and improved performances in patches, consistency remained elusive as the club continued to drop points in key fixtures.

‎Mbalangu’s long-term prospects were widely believed to hinge on a strong Uganda Cup run, with the competition viewed internally as a possible redemption path for the season.

However, those hopes were dashed when URA FC bowed out at the semi-final stage after a defeat to SC Villa, ending their cup ambitions.

‎With the season ending in disappointment, URA FC has now shifted focus to rebuilding. The club says the newly constituted committee has already engaged football networks, coaching associations, agents, and international contacts in a bid to attract a wide pool of qualified candidates.

‎According to the club, the recruitment exercise has already generated significant interest, with multiple applications from coaches with diverse experience and technical backgrounds. The evaluation process will assess candidates on technical qualifications, leadership ability, coaching philosophy, player development record, and alignment with URA FC’s long-term vision.

‎The club maintains that the process will be rigorous, with an emphasis on professionalism, transparency, and selecting a coach capable of restoring competitiveness both domestically and in potential continental ambitions.

‎URA FC further noted that the outcome of the recruitment will play a crucial role in shaping preparations for the new season, as the club seeks to rebuild stability and return to contention for major silverware in Ugandan football.
