The National Unity Platform's (NUP) annual convention faced a challenge when security operatives shifted the venue from Kakindu Stadium to Jinja Show Ground.
Frances Zaake Mutebi, NUP Youth Chairperson and Mityana Municipality MP, expressed his disappointment over the abrupt venue change during a press conference held at the Jinja Show Ground after inspecting the new location.
"We wrote to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and also wrote to the IGP. We are disappointed with the sudden change of the venue even after clearance, but we are requesting that security operatives remain outside this premise where we were asked to be. We're working to ensure a seamless experience," Zaake stated.
He urged security officials to refrain from interfering with the event, which is scheduled for this Friday, October 25.
Zaake informed the press that Party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) will preside over the convention, adding that the NUP remains dedicated to promoting unity and change.
Despite the venue change, the event promises to offer meaningful discussions on Uganda's future.
Maria Nabadda, Eastern Region Youth Chairperson, emphasized the event's focus on empowering the youth to drive change for good governance.
"We're calling on youths nationwide to join us in large numbers and make their voices heard," Nabadda said.
