World Cup moments: When Roger Milla propelled Cameroon

It is now 17 days left for the FIFA world cup trophy to be in Uganda for public viewing at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in one of its stops in the ongoing FIFA world cup trophy Tour by Coca Cola.

The Nile Post and Next Media will be airing live all the events from Cape Town South Africa as the trophy makes its way to the Pearl of Africa.

As we continue the count down to the D-day, we bring you some of the FIFA world cup African Legends.

No African team has ever tasted the joy of lifting this title but there are some names that will never be forgotten by the world.

Rashid Yakini is one of the most pronounced African names to ever feature at football’s biggest tournament.

He was part of the team that participated in the 1994 world cup where he netted Nigeria's first-ever goal in the tournament in a 3–0 win against Bulgaria.

His celebration after scoring, crying while holding the goal's net, became one of the iconic images of the tournament.

In 1990, 38-year-old Milla emerged as one of the tournament's major stars. He scored four goals in Italy, celebrating each one with a dance around the corner flag that has become a popular goal celebration ever since.

Two of his goals in this tournament propelled Cameroon to the quarterfinals of the tournament, the furthest an African team had reached.

In 1994 aged 42, he netted once for Cameroon against Russia to set a record as the oldest goal scorer in a World Cup tournament, breaking the record he had set in 1990.

The FIFA world Cup trophy is currently in Cyprus city of Larnaca from where it will be take to Ramallah in Palestine.

Starting Monday 19th February, The Nile Post and NBS TV will be giving out free tickets for the public viewing at Lugogo.
