Hoima District Chairperson Uthuman Mugisha Mubaraka has presented a State of the District Address highlighting key achievements recorded in the implementation of government programmes and service delivery.
While presenting the report during a district council sitting, as mandated by Article 183(1)(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, Section 13(5) of the Local Government Act, Cap 243, and the Standard Rules of Procedure, Mubaraka said the district had made significant progress in health, road infrastructure, education, production and other critical sectors.
The district chairperson noted that 68 percent of the district road network is currently in good motorable condition, improving connectivity and access to services.
Hoima District has a total road network of 593 kilometres, including 181 kilometres of national roads. It also has 664.1 kilometres of community access roads.
Of the 593 kilometres under the district road network, 374.3 kilometres are earth roads, while 102 kilometres are gravel roads.
On the Parish Development Model (PDM), Mubaraka revealed that the district has received Shs23 billion since the programme was launched, benefiting approximately 22,499 residents through different livelihood initiatives.
He also highlighted the ongoing construction works at Buseruka Health Centre IV, saying the upgrade will significantly transform health service delivery in the district by improving access to quality healthcare services.
However, Mubaraka called for increased government support to address staffing gaps in public schools, noting that the growing number of learners requires corresponding improvements in teacher recruitment and school infrastructure.
He urged stakeholders to continue working together to ensure sustainable development and improved service delivery for the people of Hoima District.
