The Kabaka’s County Chief for Kyaddondo, Kaggo Hajji Ahmed Matovu Magandazi, on Sunday joined Christians at Mary Queen of Peace Lugazi Cathedral, where he delivered a special message from the Katikkiro of Buganda ahead of celebrations to mark the 33rd anniversary of the coronation of His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Magandazi was received by the Cathedral Administrator, Fr. Ignatious Kibowa, while the Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Charles Lwanga Makoboza.
Before delivering the Katikkiro’s message, the Kyaddondo County Chief commended the cathedral leadership for its organisation and praised the presiding priest for his inspiring homily.
He also thanked the faithful for their continued participation in church programmes.
“I thank the leadership of Lugazi Cathedral for the excellent organisation, the presiding priest for the inspiring Gospel message, and all the faithful for their continued commitment to the Church’s programmes,” Magandazi said.
He later delivered the Katikkiro’s message to the congregation before handing over a written copy to Fr. Kibowa.
Addressing Christians after the service, Magandazi called upon all Kabaka’s subjects across Buganda to participate in the main celebrations marking the 33rd Coronation Anniversary of Kabaka Mutebi II.
The celebrations are scheduled for July 31, 2026, at Watoto Church, Bweyogerere.
“I call upon all the Kabaka’s subjects throughout Buganda to participate in the main celebrations of the 33rd Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the Kabaka on 31 July 2026 at Watoto Church, Bweyogerere,” he said.
The visit was part of Buganda Kingdom’s activities to commemorate 33 years since Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II ascended the throne.
