South Sudan opposition party mourns Gen Moses Ali, hails his legacy of peace
South Sudan's National Movement for Change has joined regional leaders in mourning former Ugandan Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali, describing him as a patriotic statesman whose commitment to peace, unity and public service left an enduring legacy in Uganda and the wider East African region.

The South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC) has expressed condolences following the death of retired Gen Moses Ali, Uganda's former Deputy Prime Minister and Adjumani West Member of Parliament, describing him as a distinguished statesman whose leadership contributed significantly to peace and national development.

In a condolence message issued by the party's Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Charles Mogga Guya, the SSNMC said Uganda had lost a patriotic leader, revolutionary statesman and tireless advocate for unity and reconciliation.

The party said Gen Moses Ali dedicated decades of his life to public service, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to Uganda's stability and development.

It noted that his leadership earned him respect not only within Uganda but across the East African region.

The SSNMC further described the late statesman as a humble and peace-loving leader whose wisdom, integrity and commitment to reconciliation would continue to inspire future generations.

According to the party, his contributions left an enduring legacy for Uganda and the wider region.

On behalf of the South Sudan National Movement for Change and in his personal capacity, Charles Mogga Guya conveyed condolences to President Museveni, the Government and people of Uganda, the family of Gen Moses Ali and the people of Adjumani West.

The party also prayed for the late leader's soul to rest in eternal peace and asked God to grant strength and comfort to his family and the people of Uganda during the period of mourning.

Gen Moses Ali, one of Uganda's longest-serving political and military figures, held several senior government positions over a public service career spanning decades and was widely recognised for his role in promoting peace, national unity and stability.
