Parliament has rescheduled its special sitting to honour the late General (Rtd) Moses Ali from Monday, July 20, to Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Parliament announced that the special sitting will now take place at 10am on Tuesday, when legislators will pay tribute to the former Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business.
"The special sitting to honour the late Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali will now take place on Tuesday, 21 July 2026 at 10:00am," Parliament said in a post on its official X account.
The House had earlier announced that the sitting would be held on Monday, July 20, at the same time.
"There will be a special sitting of Parliament on Monday, 20 July 2026 at 10:00am to pay tribute to the late Rtd Gen. Moses Ali. May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace," the earlier statement had read.
Parliament did not give a reason for the change of date.
Gen Moses Ali, who died on Saturday, served Uganda for decades in both military and political leadership. He represented Adjumani West Constituency in Parliament and held several ministerial portfolios, including serving as Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business.
During Tuesday's sitting, Members of Parliament are expected to eulogise the veteran leader and former Adjumani West MP and reflect on his contribution to national service, governance and peacebuilding.
The House is expected to adjourn after the tributes to allow legislators and members of the public to participate in activities to pay their final respects to the fallen statesman.
